V13 – My take Part 1

There is a lot of buzz around Veeam’s release of Veeam Data Platform v13 and I’m going to share a few of my key takeaways.  As the industry and BCDR needs evolve rapidly, our requirements must evolve too.  Staying current with industry trends and ahead of bad actors is increasingly challenging.  The teams at Veeam demonstrate a strong understanding of the requirements necessary to remain competitive, protect assets, and lead in both technological innovation and data security.

1.  Veeam Software Appliance (VSA) – Veeam now offers a hardened, pre‑configured appliance that speeds up deployment, reduces infrastructure complexity, and applies security best practices from day one.

2.  HA – With V13, Veeam now offers high availability removing a single point of failure, making failover faster and more efficient than restoring from configuration backup or importing backups.  This will allow for automated updates of both nodes, increased resiliency & reliability, simplified management, and reduced downtime.

3.  Advanced Security – With AI-powered threat detection, built in intelligence automatically identifies suspicious patterns and threats, helping teams respond faster.  Enhanced RBAC & SSO provide stronger access control, simplified authentication, and improved compliance readiness.  Immutability in Veeam Vault v2 is next gen immutable cloud storage protecting critical backups against ransomware and accidental deletion.

This is only a selection of v13’s new features, and I’ll be sharing even more highlights and improvements from v13 in upcoming posts of this series.

My New Journey - Veeam

I have just completed my 90 days at Veeam as a TAM.  After being on the customer side for all of my 20+ years in IT, I finally made the switch to the other side.  For 10 years I was a customer of Veeam using it primarily for replication to solve a DR issue we had, then started diving into ALL of the other awesomeness that it contained. Travel Blog 1 - Boston

  Since I enjoy traveling and food, I thought I’d try documenting my experiences and start a blog.   This will be my first recapping a short weekend trip to Boston for a friends birthday.   Later I will recap some of the trips I took earlier in 2024 and ones from 2023, if I can remember enough details! Off to Boston… While I try and stick with one airline (United) to earn the miles and status, I will also shop around for direct/cheaper flights and see if any others make sense.   Flying out of Pittsburgh can be challenging for direct flights and to Boston, United doesn’t provide that.   I went with Delta for half the price of Untied and it was a direct to/from.   I typically don’t check a bag unless I purchase items that require it.   In this case, on my way home, I had to check my bag and was happy to find out it was free with Delta… Bonus!
